Could you provide details of how i could publish a book written by one of our patients regarding her experiences living with lupus?
Thank you
Hi Marline,
Sorry it has taken so long to reply.
Publishing a book is easy. You can do almost everything yourself through several ‘self-publishing’ printers in Newcastle or Sydney, such as Wild & Woolley. If you’re not entirely confident about that, you can ask a publisher or printer to manage the project for you. That’s what I do for Koel Koel.
I’d meet you to clarify what you want and what material you have at present (text, images, cover image). We’d discuss how many pages you expect, whether or not you need editing, the type of paper you want, what sort of cover you want, how many copies and so on. We can’t help much as far as distribution goes, I’m afraid, only producing the book itself.
I hope that helps. If you have more specific questions, or would like to meet to discuss the project, please reply to our catchfirepress@gmail.com account.

How much are we looking at in terms of cost for book publishing, i have a childrens book, i have done the illustrations but would like them re-done as they aren’t the best pictures, haha. and i would only be looking at about 10 copies. thanks
Hi Aleshia,
It’s very difficult to estimate cost because it depends on so many factors: amount of text, how much extra work the text requires (editing and proofing), number of pages to lay out, dimensions of book, black and white or colour images, liaising with printers, number of copies. It’s best if I meet you and we discuss all details and then I can give you an idea what sort of cost to expect. Such an initial meeting would be $50 for one hour.
